Parametic Plotter Drawing

...First off, I'll start off this blog post with a reminder to both myself and everyone reading this not to procrastinate...
...In other words.... my drawings aren't done... whoops...

But... tah-dah.. here's other things for now:

(Definition for the polar array and variations)

I started off by playing with polar arrays and different curves constructed from points and circles.

(Assorted, simple-ish patterns with the base curve that was arrayed)

Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the actual drawings done on the vinyl cutter as either A. user error, or B. the machine isn't working quite right or something is slightly wrong (not too sure what, but there were a handful of us in the room trying to figure it out and we couldn't). So yeah.... that's a thing...

But.... here were the three array variations that were supposed to have been drawn:

(Variation 1)

(Variation 2)

(Variation 3)

Variations of the base curves were created through arrays of arrays, changes of scale, mirroring, etc.

Not too sure how well this would have drawn out, as the pattern is fairly intricate and areas of high line concentration would likely get blurred with the use of a drawing implement larger than a fine-tipped sharpie or a ballpoint pen.... still would be interesting to see the drawn results.... will get to that eventually....

Other random patterns for the heck of it:

  1. Wow!! These are amazing. Sorry the plotter wasn't working... should be good to go now. Can't wait to see the final drawings.
